Apple removes over 5000 apps from iPhone app store

Apple is causing a stir in the iPhone community by removing over 5000 apps from the app store due to what they deem as inappropriate content. Apple has long been known for being protective over what gets onto the app store, but never before have they rejected or removed so many apps at once. This recent course of action has caused Apple to receive a great deal of criticism from iPhone users, app developers, and the media.

Interesting move. We may have to chat about this on the show.

  1. They were a majority of those “iboob” apps and jiggle photo stuff… I don’t think many will miss them.

  2. One app is Mahalo, a question and answer site from Jason Calicanis. Please tell me how this app was removed and imdb wasn’t? They’re both just portals to a web site.

  3. Never underestimate the power of the conservative movement to effect marketing. This is Apple applying pre-iPad bad press spin control. It wouldn’t surprise me if they got wind of some expose that Fox News was prepped to do on all the iBoob apps.

  4. The writer of that article needs a punch in the throat! Not for this article, but for others he has written on that site.
