Get your Xbox groove on with your iPhone

November 30th, 2009 — 8:00pm

live

With the most recent update to Xbox Live users can access Facebook and Twitter, but as far as accessing Xbox Live friends lists and information from external sources, solutions are few. Now with 360 Live, an unauthorized iPhone and iPod touch app released to the iTunes App Store, users can access their complete friends list, compose and receive messages, manage friend requests, compare achievements with friends, and more.

Pretty cool. Not sure what players think just yet, but probably worth checking out. Here it is on the App Store for 1.99.

Scott:

Fayjuball – .99
Graphics & Sound: Cool graphics, sparse sound
Control and Interface: Great physics control
Gameplay: Puzzle game, based on ball physics. Challenging.
SCORE: 3.8 / 5

Ravensword – 4.99
Graphics & Sound: Great graphics! Amazing. Fluid, detailed, interesting to look at. (Probably really slow on a 3G or less.) Sound is good too, if a bit sparse.
Control and Interface: A little goofy till you get used to it
Gameplay: Has that “just keep going” thing happening, and feels very deep as you play. Short though.
SCORE: 4 / 5

Mattris – 1.99
Graphics & Sound: Simple, Tetris style graphics. Sparse but ok sound.
Control and Interface: Plays like a very wide version o Tetris, and ends up being pretty awesome as a result. Love the gameplay. Controls well, and accurately, even when things get crazy.
Gameplay: VERY fun. Sight, etc.
Extras:
SCORE: 3.9 /5

Eric:

NFB (of Canada) – Free (via Kichelle)
Graphics & Sound: High Quality Video
Control and Interface: Basic Interface- Recent, Channels, Search,…etc. Cool thing is you can download movies to watch on phone when you don’t have internet connection, stays on the phone for 24 hours.
Tons of selection, lots of indie animated short films and full length films.
SCORE: 4.5 / 5

Voices .99¢
Concept: Records your voice and applies effect like Cyborg, Chipmunk, Exorcisim, Dark Side, Vocoder, Cave, Guitar, Fun House.
Overall works well, but some of the effects effect your voice too much, making what you said intelligible.
Extras: Share you recordings via Twitter, Facebook and e-mail
SCORE: 3 / 5

pocket BLU – Free
Finally a remote for BluRay players that are connected to a WiFi Network.
I was super excited when this suggested by a reader, but I soon found out that it only work with specific BluRays???
The BluRay needs to be a specific Pocket Blu BluRay…the current list is Bruno, Funny People, Inglor Bast, Public Enemies….and that’s it. Not only can you use it as a Remote you can access certain extras right there on your phone after they are unlocked via the BluRay.
SCORE: 2.5 / 5

All that and segments, your calls, and emails too!! Enjoy the episode!

STUPID APP OF THE WEEK

Urinals, the game – .99

REVIEWS!

Scott:

Title: Fore (golf Game) – 2.99
Concept: Top down golf game.
Graphics & Sound: Graphics and sound are just fine! Music is horrible.
Control & Interface: HORRIBLE controls. Never really know how things are going to go. They should patch.
Gameplay: Great golf idea, great perspective, great concept for a quick pick up game, terrible controls.
Extras: With local Peer-to-Peer multi-player you can also enjoy the thrill of real time competition with your friends. Plus+ enabled, add friends, access leader boards, earn Plus+ awards.

Score: 2.5 stars

Title: Shoutcast Radio – Free
Concept: Streaming of thousands of Shoutcast audio servers.
Sound: Same quality as using a PC for this or whatever. Various streams with various speeds.
Control & Interface: Basic, nothing fancy, gets the job done. Favorites, popular picks, search-able, etc.
Gameplay: NA
Extras: NA

Score: 3.5 stars

Eric:

Title: Eliminate Pro – Free
Concept: FPS
Graphics & Sound: Good graphics, fast and fluid
Control & Interface: Takes a bit to get use to, but once you get a hang of it…it’s pretty tight. Only complaint is getting stuck in certain places- like overhangs
Gameplay: Quick online matches with strangers and/or friends. Shoot em up, pick-up credits along with power-ups, earn credits to upgrade and buy new armor and weapons.
Extras: Uses the + Plus system to track achievement.
Cons: Can only earn credits if you have energy, you can use up your energy after 4 or so matches, then have to wait about 2 hours for Refill…but can spend real money to refill energy bar. Is a level cap on upgrades for weapons and armor so you have to actually play and level to get the best out of your gear.

Score 4 stars

Title: Fling .99¢
Concept: Puzzle
Graphics & Sound: Good graphics, fast and fluid
Control & Interface: Simple controls, just have to flick furry balls
Gameplay: Object of the game is to flick all the balls off the board so you only have one ball remaining, knock other balls off the board by “Flinging” other balls at them…you can only fling up, down, left and right. Can’t fling a ball unless it hits another ball. Gets tricky after awhile.
Extras: Has online leader board and 2 modes Arcade and Challenge.

Score 4 stars

All that and segments, your calls, and emails too!! Enjoy the episode!

Radio Shack To Sell iPhone

November 10th, 2009 — 1:13pm

shack

When Radio Shack announced Monday that it will begin selling Apple’s iPhone in its stores, the nation’s second largest electronics quickly realized just how significant it is to be selected to sell the iconic mobile phone: its stock rocketed.

The retailer said it will begin selling the iPhone this month in the New York City and Dallas/Fort Worth areas. Sales of the iPhone are scheduled to begin nationwide in Radio Shack’s stores next year.

Interesting. I kinda had it in my head that they had some sort of deal with Verizon. More reason to expect a Verizon iPhone? Maybe! The full story here.
